Even while it was forming, GMRC began life with two service projects. Between June 15th and June 25th, GMRC, in partnership with The River Center and Monadnock Family Services, sponsored hundreds of showings of the documentary film, “Angst”, and two online group sessions to support people dealing with the crisis of Covid-19 and the isolation social distancing. This coming Friday and Saturday, 7/10 and 7/11, GMRC is sponsoring a local ‘Mask Up NH’ event to give away 3,000 cloth masks in a drive-through at South Meadow School. Drive-through hours are 3pm to 7pm, Friday, and 10am to 2pm Saturday, and families are invited to receive 2 masks per family member. The masks are donated by The Common Man Restaurants, and distributed through Rotary club efforts throughout NH and Vermont.

Launched in times of social distancing, the Grand Monadnock Rotary club begins as a Zoom club, meeting online Tuesday mornings at 7:30. Once conditions allow, the club will return to its traditional morning meetings, but hopes to offer Zoom access for members who wish an extra margin of personal safety before meeting in person again. Zoom access also opens doors for remote speakers and access for members who travel to sunnier climes in winter months.

The Peterborough Rotary Club has been a fixture of the community since 1925, while the Monadnock Rotary Club split off from the Peterborough club in 1990 to offer a breakfast alternative to Peterborough’s noon meetings.

New members and those with interest in giving back to our communities and sharing club goals of Youth Service, Community Service and World Service, are invited to contact club President Harry Wolhandler (president@grandmonadnockrotary.org, 603-852-8026) for information, and to visit https://GrandMonadnockRotary.org for more information.
