Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is Rotary's leadership training program for young people. RYLA participants can be ages 15-19.

RYLA emphasizes leadership, citizenship, and personal growth, and aims to:
  • Demonstrate Rotary's respect and concern for youth.
  • Provide an effective training experience for selected youth and potential leaders.
  • Encourage leadership of youth by youth.
  • Recognize publicly young people who are rendering service to their communities.
The Monadnock Rotary Club invites each club in Rotary District 7870 to participate in the annual Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) Conference. Each club is encouraged to select and sponsor high school juniors and seniors who are interested in attending.

Who is eligible to attend? Clubs may devise their own selection process to recruit high school juniors and seniors from high schools local to their club. They should be students who want to develop their understanding of themselves as leaders and to learn more about the leadership process. We suggest that Interact members be given preference, but any junior or senior student who would benefit from this interactive leadership program is welcome.

What is the program? The annual program includes dynamic sessions that provide for the exploration and practice of various aspects of leadership. In the past these sessions have included topics such as team-building, public speaking, communication, leadership styles, and decision-making. The one-day event also provides an opportunity for these students to experience fellowship by meeting and working with their peers from around the district.
